
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 24: As part of the ongoing Anti-Drugs Awareness Week, South Andaman Police conducted a series of outreach and community engagement programmes across the district, reaffirming its commitment towards building a drug-free society under the vision of #NashaMuktBharat.
At Hut Bay, awareness sessions were organized for fishermen and local residents, focusing on the harmful effects of drug abuse, provisions of the NDPS Act, and the crucial role of community vigilance in preventing drug-related activities. Participants were encouraged to actively cooperate with law enforcement agencies in reporting suspicious activities.
At Swaraj Dweep, local youth enthusiastically participated in a friendly football match organized to promote healthy lifestyles and positive recreation. The event highlighted the importance of sports as a constructive alternative to substance abuse and served as a platform to spread anti-drug messages among young people.
Meanwhile, at Shaheed Dweep, awareness drives were conducted in market areas where villagers, shop owners, and members of the public were sensitized about the dangers of drug abuse and its adverse impact on individuals, families, and society. A road march carrying anti-drug awareness banners further reinforced the message of collective responsibility in creating a drug-free community.
South Andaman Police remains steadfast in its mission to combat drug abuse through sustained awareness, community participation, and proactive enforcement. The department urges citizens to remain vigilant and actively support the fight against drugs for a safer and healthier future.
