Port Blair, June 14: The Wildlife Division of the Forest Department in Kadamtala has successfully captured a 2.85-meter-long crocodile today from the Aterzig Nallah in Middle Andaman. The presence of the crocodile was initially reported by villagers residing in the Aterzig Village, who had sighted the reptile in the Nallah.
This particular crocodile had been causing concern among the villagers, as it was allegedly responsible for multiple attacks on domestic animals in the area in the past. In response to the villagers’ complaint, a team from the Forest Department was promptly dispatched to address the situation. They took proactive measures by installing a cage and nets in the Nallah to capture the crocodile and ensure its safe relocation.
On Monday, June 12th, in the early morning, forest workers deployed in the area discovered a 2.85-meter-long female crocodile trapped inside the cage. The team immediately informed the Forest Department about their successful capture. Subsequently, the crocodile was carefully transported to the Port Blair Biological Park in Chidiatapu for further monitoring and management.
