
Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 02: The team of Ograbraj Police Station arrested a 22-year-old man and seized 500 grams of suspected ganja during a raid at Dam Pahad, Chouldari, on September 1.
According to the FIR copy available with Andaman Sheekha, police received credible information at around 11:40 AM that Amar Kumar Sood alias Noney, a resident of Dam Pahad, was allegedly carrying ganja and attempting to sell it in the area.
Following the information, a police team led by Inspector Stalin N.S., SHO of Police Station Ograbraj, was constituted on the direction of SDPO (Bambooflat) Mr. Sunil, DANIPS. The team proceeded to Dam Pahad along with two independent witnesses.
The police reportedly intercepted the suspect at around 2 PM when he arrived carrying a white polythene bag. After informing him of his legal rights under Section 50 of the NDPS Act, police conducted a search with his consent.
During the search, a substance suspected to be ganja was allegedly recovered from the bag. The FIR states that the substance tested positive for ganja using a drug detection kit and weighed approximately 500 grams.
The contraband was seized and sealed following the prescribed procedure. Amar Kumar Sood was subsequently arrested at around 4 PM under Section 20(b)(ii)A of the NDPS Act, 1985. The recovered substance was deposited in the police station’s Malkhana.
