Sri Vijaya Puram, July 02: In a major push for regional development, on 02.07.2026 Mr. Venkateswar Rao, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Shivapuram alongside Mr. R. Madhavan, Zilla Parishad Member for Nimbutala and former Up-Adhyaksha of North & Middle Andaman, held a comprehensive high-level meeting with Chief Engineer Mr. Prijith Rekh. The detailed discussions focused on resolving long-standing infrastructure grievances and accelerating several vital public welfare projects across the region. According to Mr. Venkateswar Rao, the meeting yielded highly positive outcomes, with the Chief Engineer reportedly offering firm commitments and clear timelines for execution.
A primary focus of the discussion was the pending TV Kullam Bridge Project, which the Pradhan strongly advocated for during the meeting. As per Mr. Venkateswar Rao, recognizing its urgency, the Chief Engineer reportedly officially categorized the bridge as a “Priority Work” and reportedly informed the delegation that the tender will be floated immediately upon receiving approval from the State Plan Committee, with the department aiming to finalize the entire tendering process within the next three to four months.
Connected road networks were also heavily featured on the agenda. Regarding the rural road linking the TV Kullam Bridge to Basantipur under the PMGSY-III scheme, Mr. Venkateswar Rao stated that the delegation was reportedly assured that the tender will be issued before September. He further claimed that the Chief Engineer reportedly assured that if the PMGSY execution encounters any technical delays, the project will alternatively be funded and completed through the UT Fund. Additionally, the delegation flagged the severe lack of repair and maintenance on the PMGSY-II rural road stretching from Panchawati Junction to the Agriculture Farm. Taking serious note of the contractor’s negligence, the Chief Engineer reportedly assured the delegation that strict legal and administrative action will be initiated against the assigned firm, M/S. Garg and Sons Estate Promoters Private Limited.
Addressing broader economic and construction hurdles in the district, Zilla Parishad Member Mr. R. Madhavan highlighted how the ongoing non-availability of local quarries, locally known as Khori, has severely paralyzed and delayed multiple development works. According to the PRI representatives, the Chief Engineer reportedly assured them of swift departmental intervention and the necessary administrative actions to resolve the quarry crisis at the earliest.
Throughout the deliberation, the PRI representatives stated that the Chief Engineer maintained a highly positive and constructive approach, reportedly reassuring the delegation that the department is fully committed to taking immediate, concrete steps to expedite all discussed public welfare projects and improve the region’s overall infrastructure.
