Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 06: On 05.09.2026, an incident of murder was reported at Kalighat, wherein a 20-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted by a person known to the family.
On the morning of 05.09.2026, the accused visited the victim’s residence and asked her to marry him. When she declined, the accused allegedly became aggressive and assaulted her with an iron pipe and subsequently attacked her with a machete, causing fatal injuries. The victim succumbed to her injuries.
Following this, PS Kalighat promptly initiated action and registered a case under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, against the accused. The investigation of the case has been taken over by Sub Inspector Shibendra Nath Halder, SHO, PS Kalighat.
During the course of investigation, the IO, along with the Forensic Team, examined the scene of crime and collected relevant corroborative evidence. The alleged weapon of offence, along with other relevant articles, was seized. The accused was arrested, and further investigation is in progress.
