
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 25: In a significant contribution towards strengthening disaster preparedness and supporting frontline volunteers during the monsoon season, SAHYOG (NGO) donated 290 raincoats to the District Administration, South Andaman, at a programme held today in the Conference Hall of the District Office.
The raincoats were formally handed over by Mr. Pt. Gyan Prakash Mishra, President, SAHYOG (NGO) to Ms. Purva Garg, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman. The initiative underscores the organisation’s commitment towards community welfare and its proactive role in supporting disaster management and public service efforts in the district.
The donated raincoats will be distributed among Civil Defence Volunteers (CDVs) and 28 Patwari Circles in all three tehsils of South Andaman District. The volunteers constitute an important support system for the District Administration and are actively involved in emergency response, disaster management, relief and rescue operations, and various community outreach activities.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, expressed appreciation for the generous contribution made by SAHYOG (NGO) and lauded the organisation’s continued efforts in promoting community welfare and strengthening local resilience. She noted that the raincoats would significantly aid Civil Defence Volunteers in carrying out their duties efficiently during adverse weather conditions, particularly throughout the ongoing monsoon season.
The District Administration highlighted the vital role played by Civil Defence Volunteers in assisting government agencies during emergencies and emphasized that such collaborative initiatives between civil society organisations and the administration contribute substantially towards enhancing disaster preparedness and public safety.
The District Administration also acknowledged the support extended by SAHYOG (NGO) and reaffirmed its commitment to fostering partnerships with voluntary organisations for the welfare and well-being of the community.
