
Sri Vijaya Puram, Apr 06: The Forest Training Institute (FTI), Wimberlygunj, conducted the Passing Out Ceremony of the 53rd Batch of Foresters, marking the successful culmination of a comprehensive and intensive training programme designed to equip trainees with professional skills in forest management, biodiversity conservation, and field administration.
Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Mr. S. Dinesh Kannan, Chief Conservator of Forests (R&WP) and Chairperson, FTI, attended as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony witnessed the presence of senior forest officials, faculty members, staff, and families of the trainees.
Mr. Raju Rathour, Instructor, FTI delivered the welcome address, underscoring the significance of discipline, integrity, and dedication as core values for forestry personnel entrusted with the stewardship of natural resources.
Mr. Ajit V. John, Director, FTI, presented the annual report of the institute, detailing the various academic, physical, and field training activities undertaken during the session. He highlighted the achievements of the trainees in various disciplines.
In his address, Mr. Dinesh Kannan, commended the institute for maintaining high standards of training and producing skilled and committed foresters. He advised the trainees to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and to discharge their duties with sincerity, particularly in addressing emerging environmental challenges.
Mr. Subham Halder secured the First Rank with an aggregate of 82.68 percent and was awarded the Gold Medal for Overall Excellence in recognition of his outstanding performance throughout the training.
A solemn Pipping Ceremony was held to formally induct the trainees into the forestry service. The Chief Guest administered the oath, emphasizing integrity, accountability, and unwavering commitment to the protection and sustainable management of forest resources.
In his keynote address, Mr. Sanjay Kumar Sinha highlighted the pivotal role of foresters in conserving biodiversity, protecting wildlife habitats, and ensuring sustainable forest management, especially in the ecologically sensitive Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He encouraged the newly inducted foresters to work with dedication, adaptability, and a sense of responsibility towards both nature and local communities.
The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Vijay Kishan, Range Officer.
