Rangat, Mar 27: In the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, a prolonged shortage of revenue stamps over the past six months has caused significant inconvenience to the public, affecting both personal and financial transactions.
Residents have reported that revenue stamps are currently unavailable in most post offices as well as with licensed stamp vendors across various regions including Rangat, Mayabunder, and surrounding areas. The scarcity has disrupted routine documentation processes such as affidavits, agreements, and other legal and financial paperwork where revenue stamps are mandatory.
Due to the non-availability, people are forced to travel long distances in search of stamps or delay important work, leading to frustration and financial setbacks. Local business owners, legal practitioners, and common citizens have all expressed concern over the ongoing issue.
Public representatives and social activists have urged the administration to take immediate steps to ensure the supply and distribution of revenue stamps in all post offices and authorized vendors throughout the islands.
It is requested that the concerned authorities address the issue on priority and streamline the supply chain so that revenue stamps are made readily available, thereby easing the difficulties faced
