Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 02: The Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) adopts several strategies for the effective implementation of its mandate to fight corruption. Vigilance Awareness Week is one of the key tools of preventive vigilance, focusing on building awareness and reaffirming the commitment of all stakeholders to uphold integrity.
This year, Vigilance Awareness Week is being observed from 27th October to 2nd November, 2025, with the theme “Vigilance: Our Shared Responsibility”. The observance aims to promote integrity, transparency, and accountability in public administration.
As part of the Vigilance Awareness Week observance, a day-long Workshop was organized yesterday by the Vigilance Department at the Secretariat, Sri Vijaya Puram. The workshop was attended by senior officers, including Office Superintendents and Deputy Secretaries from various departments of the A&N Administration, for orientation, capacity building, and awareness on vigilance matters and other components of preventive vigilance.
The Workshop was inaugurated by Dr. Chandra Bhushan Kumar, IAS, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration. Addressing the participants, the Chief Secretary emphasized the importance of maintaining discipline and adhering to effective time management—not only in handling vigilance matters but also in performing day-to-day administrative tasks—as integral aspects of good governance. He highlighted the need for strict adherence to rules and procedures to ensure transparency, fairness, accountability, and efficiency in governance.
The Chief Secretary also underscored the critical role of continuous learning. He encouraged participants to make regular use of the iGOT platform for learning and understanding vigilance matters, as well as other topics of interest, to empower themselves with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective discharge of their duties.
On the occasion, Dr. Sachin Shinde, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Vigilance), highlighted the relevance and role of participants in promoting preventive vigilance, noting that they operate at the cutting edge of administration and are actively involved in the decision-making process.
The Workshop included interactive sessions on various topics related to preventive vigilance, including digital initiatives undertaken by the A&N Administration for delivering citizen-centric services, cyber hygiene and precautionary measures for enhancing cybersecurity and preventing security breaches, as well as sessions on departmental proceedings, conducting inquiries under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2018, and the rights and responsibilities of vigilant citizens and employees.
The Workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation and active interaction among stakeholders, reflecting a strong willingness to associate with such thematic workshops that enhance and empower officials with knowledge and skills for promoting good governance.
