Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 27:As part of the ongoing “Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan” (17th Sept. to 2nd Oct. 2025), a Health Awareness-cum-Screening Camp was organized for Police personnel at the Armed Police Unit, Police Line by the District Health Society, South Andaman. The camp focused on the early detection and prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and Tuberculosis (TB), with on-site chest X-ray facilities available.
Dr. Minita Reggy, WHO Consultant, sensitized participants on the Ni-kshay Mitra initiative and explained the types of support that can be extended to TB patients. The initiative aims to promote preventive healthcare among working professionals by providing convenient access to essential services during office hours.
The District Administration, South Andaman, emphasized the importance of regular health check-ups and highlighted that similar camps will be organized across Departments to ensure a healthier and more productive workforce. Vulnerable groups such as TB contacts, former patients, smokers, alcohol users, diabetics, the malnourished, and individuals above 60 years are encouraged to undergo chest X-ray screening at their nearest health centres.
The Administration also appeals to all women to avail themselves of the special health screening camps being conducted under the Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan at all Health Centres up to 2nd October, 2025.
