Port Blair: A demand has been raised to extend the application deadline for the ongoing recruitment of Forest Ranger posts in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. State Youth President of Hindu Rashtra Shakti, Mr. Angshuman Roy, has written to Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav, Minister of State Kirti Vardhan Singh, EF&CC Secretary Tanmay Kumar, the Lt. Governor, and the Chief Secretary, seeking an extension of the application period.
In his letter, Mr. Roy pointed out that as per Notification No. PCCF/(ANI) RC/FR/Vol V/24 dated 25 July 2025, the Environment and Forest Department is recruiting for 28 Forest Ranger posts, with the online application window set from 28 July to 20 August 2025. However, many deserving candidates are unable to apply within this period because their final graduation results — a mandatory eligibility requirement — will only be declared by the end of August.
He further mentioned that organisations such as Living on the Edge (LOTE) and Hindu Seva Sangh (HSS) have already raised the same concern, and joined them in appealing for the deadline to be extended until 10 September 2025.
According to Mr. Roy, a modest extension would give equal opportunity to all eligible candidates, particularly from island communities where such government job openings are rare, while ensuring the recruitment process remains fair and transparent.
