Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 14: On the occasion of the 79th Independence Day, the Government of India has called upon citizens to celebrate the spirit of patriotism under the theme “Har Ghar Tiranga.”
In line with this theme, and under the directives of Director of Shipping Services, Cdr Vijay Kumar, the Directorate of Shipping Services organised a grand Tiranga Rally on 14th August 2025 at 2:30 PM, with the participation of over 500 individuals from various units of the Directorate including DSS Office, Afloat Section, Marine
Dockyard, CSL as well as employees from private vendors.
The rally commenced from Marine Dockyard, proceeded via Electricity Power House Junction, and concluded at the DSS Administrative Office, where participants formed a Human Chain to spread the message of “Har Ghar Tiranga” among fellow workers and islanders.
Addressing the gathering, Deputy Director (Shipping Services), Mr. B.C. Sarkar, urged every citizen to proudly hoist the National Flag in their premises and feel honoured to be an Indian. As part of the initiative, National Flags were distributed to all participants.
The rally also witnessed the participation of Surveyor In-Charge, MMD, Sri Vijaya Puram, Surveyor In-Charge, IRS, Mr. Vijaya Puram, Chief Manager (Tech) Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. and General Manager, Ind-Aust Maritime Pvt Ltd., whose presence further strengthened the message of unity and patriotic fervour.
