Campbell Bay, July 24: The Andaman & Nicobar State Cooperative Bank has inaugurated a Financial Literacy Center (FLC) at its Campbell Bay bank premises on 22nd July, 2015. The FLC was inaugurated by Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, ANSCB in presence of Smt. Laxmi Singh, a large gathering of people from Gandhinagar,Vijaynagar and Govindnagar village, PRI members and bank officials.
At the beginning, Shri. T Subramanian, General Manager (Dev.) of the bank welcomed the gathering and all the delegates.
Shri. Bhagat Singh, Chairman, ANSCB in his key note address urged all the people of Campbell Bay to come forward and take the benefits of FLC. The Financial Literacy Center (FLC) is set up by ANSCB in collaboration with NABARD, Port Blair to disseminate awareness on banking and financial products among the poor and rural peoples.
The Chairman also explained that the Lt. Governor Lt. Gen (Retd) A K Singh has sensed the development of Islanders by providing better communication and transport facilities and as all are aware that at his instance, the developmental work at the Air strip at Campbell Bay is being taken up so that the air connectivity between Port Blair to Campbell Bay will improve and thereby reduce the difficulties being faced by the people. He also explained that the A & N State Coop. Bank is delivering pensions to old age, widow and disabled persons at their doorsteps. It is due to the efforts of the Administration that the pension are being revised from Rs. 1000/- to Rs. 2000/-.
He also emphasised that the Bank shall request the A & N Administration to enhance the pension amount from Rs.2000/-. The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by General Manager (D).
