Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 18: A meeting of government pensioners of Rangat area was held at the Zilla Parishad Auditorium, Rangat, Middle Andaman (18.09.2026). RK Baral presided over the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, D. Ayyappan, former General Secretary of Non-Gazetted Govt Officers Association A&N Islands elaborately explained the provisions made in the Finance Act, 2025 by which the government has been authorized to differentiate the pensioners on the date of their retirement. He said that the government’s intention is to categorize the pensioners to deny the Central Pay Commission benefits to the pensioners. He called upon the pensioners of Middle Andaman to participate in the agitation being conducted throughout the country on various issues of pensioners. P. Sathyapal, Asst General Secretary, Govt Pensioners Association briefly explained the denial of CGHS facilities to the pensioners of A&N Islands.
Suresh Lall, General Secretary and R. Surendran Pillai, Organising Secretary, Govt Pensioners Association and Projit Kumar Sarkar, CITU Rangat Zonal Committee also addressed the meeting.
A Branch Committee for Rangat was formed with RK Baral, Ajit Kumar Dey and Ashok Haldar as Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer respectively. Sunny Varghese is the Joint Secretary. 13 members were elected to the Executive Committee.
About 100 government pensioners of Rangat area attended the meeting.
