Sri Vijaya Puram Sept 13: As part of the observance of National Ayurveda Day 2026, a Vriksharopan – Medicinal Plant Drive was organised at the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, Mayabunder. On the occasion, Mr. Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman, along with Mr. S. Krishna Chaitanya, Additional District Magistrate, N&M Andaman, planted medicinal plants, marking the Vriksharopan initiative under National Ayurveda Day 2026.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Priyanka Iqbal, GDMO (Ayurveda), Medical Officer, along with Dr. M. Sudhi, Drug Inspector, and the team of Dr. R.P. Hospital, Mayabunder. The initiative aimed to promote awareness regarding Ayurvedic medicinal plants, their traditional uses and health benefits, while highlighting the importance of their conservation and cultivation.
The programme also underscored the significant role of medicinal plants in promoting health and well-being through Ayurveda, while simultaneously encouraging environmental conservation. The event was successfully conducted and served as a meaningful initiative towards promoting Ayurveda, medicinal plant awareness and a culture of environmental stewardship.
