Sri Vijaya Puram Sept 13: The Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs, in collaboration with the Directorate of Education & Directorate of IP&T, organized the North Bay Mini Marathon as part of the Tourism Events Calendar 2026–27. The 10 Km Open Men & Women Race commenced with the route starting from Chunnabatta to North Bay Beach and back to Chunnabatta. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the general public, school and college students from across the Islands, reflecting a strong spirit of sportsmanship, fitness and healthy living.
The 10 Km Men’s Open Mini Marathon was flagged off by Mr. Sukhranjan Biswas, Joint Director, MY Bharat, while the Women’s 10 Km Mini Marathon was flagged off by Mr. Venkat Ram Babu Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Wimberlygunj.
In the Men’s Open 10 Km category, Raja, Sandeep & G. Ram secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd position while in the Women’s 10 Km category, Arpita Toppo, Stuthy & Sakchi secured 1st, 2nd & 3rd position. The winners were awarded medals and trophies by the guest of honour during the concluding ceremony. Mr. V. Ranjith Kumar, Assistant Director (Sports), Directorate of Sports & Youth Affairs proposed vote of thanks.
