Port Blair, May 11: After the problems of a mother of leaving her 12-year-old son’s liver cancer treatment came into light, several Islanders including Island Protection Forum extended their help to rescue the child.
As per reports, recently a private news channel in their report highlighted the conditions of the stranded Islanders in KK Nagar Guest House, Chennai wherein, they also highlighted problems of a stranded mother from the Islands who left the treatment of her 12-year-old son in the middle after the hospital refused to continue the treatment.
“My son was referred under ANISHI scheme for liver cancer treatment to the Kamakshi hospital three months back but the hospital refused to continue the further left four chemotherapy as the five lakh rupee fund in the ANISHI scheme was over, hence because I was having no money for further chemotherapy, the hospital discharged my son last month and due to the lockdown I got stuck here,” Mrs. Dipanita Adhikari, the mother of the 12-year-old liver patient commented to the private news channel during her interview.
This statement of the lady reached the islanders through various social media platforms following which several islanders have now contributed to her son’s chemotherapy.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the lady said that the President, Island Protection Forum, Mr. MT Mustafa contacted her and has already extended support of Rs. 12000 for the first chemotherapy.
“There are several other people who donated me Rs 500, Rs 1000 et cetera and till now I have around 32000 in my account for the left 04 chemotherapy,” said the mother.
Further talking to Andaman Sheekha, the mother said that per chemotherapy costs around Rs 11,500 and currently I have money for 03 chemotherapy. “IPF has promised that they will extend more support if I require,” the mother added.
Mrs. Dipanita Adhikari, the lady from Havelock has finally expressed her sincere gratitude to all the people who have extended their support for the treatment of her son.
