Sri Vijay Puram, August 23: Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Harinagar, met Mr. Pravesh Ranjan Jha, IAS, Secretary (Power), Andaman and Nicobar Administration, at his official chamber in Vijay Puram to discuss several pressing electricity and infrastructure issues affecting the Harinagar area.
During the meeting, Mr. Halder raised key infrastructure requirements aimed at improving public safety and rural development. He requested the extension of Low Tension (L.T.) lines with street-light phase connections in two areas of Harinagar — from the land of Atul Mondal to the residence of Jogen Mondal, and from the house of Ashok Mondal to the house of Budhimanta Adhikary. He highlighted that the rapid construction of new residential buildings has increased the local population, while inadequate street lighting poses safety concerns for residents and commuters, particularly at night. Both projects have already been included in the action plan under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY). The Secretary (Power) assured Mr. Halder that the demands would be addressed at the earliest.
Mr. Halder also raised administrative concerns regarding the deployment of power sector personnel. He pointed out that the Junior Engineer (JE) posted at the Nimbudera site office, who had been providing effective services, has recently been assigned additional charges of the Mayabunder and Tugapur site offices. He stated that the multiple additional responsibilities have affected efficient service delivery in the Harinagar area. The Pradhan requested the immediate deployment of dedicated JEs at the Mayabunder and Tugapur site offices to ensure better public service.
Responding positively, Mr. Pravesh Ranjan Jha reportedly assured Mr. Halder that the manpower issue would be resolved within a fortnight. Mr. Manojit Halder expressed his gratitude to the Secretary (Power) for giving a patient hearing to the issues and for providing positive and timely assurances towards addressing the grievances of the general public.
