Port Blair, April 13: During this time of pandemic, where every section of people received due attention from the government, an Ad-hoc lecturer serving her duties in Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya, Port Blair since the year 2000 had to seek financial help from her relatives and colleagues for bread and butter as she has not been paid salary for the last four months.
As per reports, Mrs. Esther William Samuel, lecturer, JNRM in spite of serving for 19 years in the institution did not get further extension by the Education Department for reasons unknown following which she knocked the doors of the court of law and the Calcutta Tribunal then ordered the Education Department to continue her service as Ad-hoc keeping in view the years of service of the lecturer.
To the utter dismay, the Higher Education Section has not yet responded to her representation to follow the tribunal order of giving her extension and releasing salary.
The lecturer is still extending her services but because of the non-payment of salary for the last four months, the lecturer with five dependents is forced to live hand to mouth.
Several requests have been made by the lecturer to the authorities for releasing the salary but all fell on deaf ears.
After having no hope left, the lecturer coming from a Schedule Tribe background has finally requested the Lt Governor, Andaman, and the Nicobar Islands to interfere in the issue and sort it out for her to let her manage her livelihood during this pandemic situation.
