Port Blair, April 13: A quadragenarian Nicobari patient suffering from cancer who went to Ashwin Comprehensive Cancer Hospital located at Coimbatore, Tamilnadu for treatment is now in a dilemma as to how he will pay his room rent that is due from 27.03.2020.
As per reports, the Nicobari patient namely Mr. Karimudeen a resident of Perka village, Car Nicobar was suffering from Cancer following which he along with one attendant, Mr. Abdul Sattar went to Coimbatore on 02nd February 2020 for treatment with all the savings he had.
Mr. Karimudeen before leaving for treatment had anyhow managed to roll in that much of amount with the help of his friends and relatives to stay in Coimbatore till his final chemotherapy that was done on 27th March 2020 and was all set to come back to his native Andaman on 28th March 2020 but, due to the lockdown he was forced to take a stay at Coimbatore having no other way out.
The Nicobari patient with his attendant is currently staying in New Vijaya Lodge, Geetha Hall Road, Coimbatore- 641018 which costs him Rs 1200 a day and since 27th March 2020, he has not paid the room rent.
With God’s grace, the Coimbatore Police who learned about the situation of the Nicobari Patient is helping the patient and his attendant with all 03 meals a day since 01st April 2020.
Mr. MT Mustafa, President, NGO Island Protection Forum has already taken up the matter of the quadragenarian Nicobari patient with the Chief Secretary, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and has requested him to issue necessary direction to Director, Tribal Welfare and DRC Chennai to take immediate steps to provide financial assistance to the patient and shift him to Andaman Bhawan, Chennai.
