Port Blair, Feb 02: Since ban on PET bottles, several residents claimed that ANPCC has turned a blind eye towards ANIIDCO selling of alcohol in 750ml PET bottles, contradicting to which, the Andaman & Nicobar Islands Integrated Development Corporation has now clarified that they never supplied 750ml of alcohol PET bottles in the market after the ban.
Andaman Sheekha was trying to contact some senior officer to know then ground reality in this regard and now this newspaper is able to get some inside details.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha recently, Senior Manager, ANIIDCO, Mr Ramesh Chander Das said that since the ban on PET bottles the ANIIDCO never supplied 750ml alcohol bottles with covering of PET bottles in the market.
“Since the ban we have kept the stock of alcohol’s 750ml PET bottles in our warehouse and has asked the supplier to take the stock back and supply the fresh stock in glass bottles,” clarified Mr Ramesh.
Senior manager ANIIDCO further clarified that around 6000 cartons of alcohol in 750ml PET bottles has been kept in their warehouse currently and they are waiting for the suppliers reply.
Also, talking to Andaman Sheekha, another Senior Manager of ANIIDCO on condition of anonymity said that they are even trying to avoid plastic covering in their files and other stationary items.
The move of ANIIDCO to honour the directions of Andaman and Nicobar Administration regarding ban on PET bottles and also towards protection of Andaman ecology is lauded by public.
