Port Blair, Dec 23: There is strong rumour in these Islands that the Administration is planning for scrapping MV Nicobar and MV Nancowry and some green signals in this regard has already been received by the Administration from Ministry.
However due to non availability of officials for a comment, an official confirmation in this regard could not be obtained but sources told Andaman Sheekha that something is cooking in this regard.
People associated with Shipping Industry suggest that if at all Administration is planning to scrap MV Nicobar and MV Nancowry then there is a need to reconsider this issue once again.
According to sources if these two ships are properly repaired and are maintained by right technical experts then atleast these two ships can be operated in inter-island section, which will be of great help.
