Sri Vijaya Puram, Nov 04: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) received a significant political boost in Ward No. 3 of Sri Vijaya Puram as the State Youth Congress Working President, Mr. Elayaraja (Alsu), joined the BJP today along with his supporters after resigning from the Congress party.
At a programme organised at the BJP office in Sri Vijaya Puram, Mr. Elayaraja formally joined the party in the presence of State BJP President Mr. Anil Tiwari. A large number of his supporters, youths, women and family members were present on the occasion. BJP workers warmly welcomed him into the party. Among those present were State Vice President and District In-charge, Mr. Sher Singh, State General Secretary, Mr. Param Shivam, District President Mr. Jitendra Narayan and several senior party leaders and workers.
Welcoming Mr. Elayaraja into the party, BJP State President Mr. Anil Tiwari said that the Bharatiya Janata Party is an organisation where hard work, dedication and the commitment of its workers are recognised and respected. He said that the BJP is the world’s largest political party, a distinction achieved not merely through organisational expansion but through the dedication of millions of workers and their service to the people. He emphasised that the party’s primary objective is not to attain power but to ensure that the benefits of welfare schemes reach the person standing at the last rung of society. He added that the nation comes first for the BJP, and every party worker is committed to serving society and the country with this spirit.
Mr. Anil Tiwari further said that he had known Mr. Elayaraja’s father closely and described him as a person deeply committed to social service and public welfare. He said that his father had devoted his life to the Congress party, but the party failed to give him and his family the respect they deserved. Assuring Mr. Elayaraja of full respect and recognition within the BJP, he said that the party would provide him with ample opportunities to grow as a dedicated worker. He stated that the BJP is not dominated by any particular family and that even an ordinary party worker can rise to a senior position through hard work and dedication. Citing his own political journey, he said that a worker from an ordinary family had also been entrusted with the responsibility of State President by the party.
The State President appealed to BJP workers in Ward No. 3 to extend their full support to Mr. Elayaraja and work together to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming elections. He assured that the BJP organisation would extend every possible support towards the development of Ward No. 3 and resolving public grievances. He noted that Mr. Elayaraja had worked with the Congress for 17 years and said that the BJP would now offer him numerous opportunities to move forward. Expressing happiness over the large gathering of supporters, he said that the presence of such a large number of people at the BJP office demonstrated the strong public support enjoyed by Mr. Elayaraja.
After formally joining the BJP, Mr. Elayaraja expressed his gratitude to State President Mr. Anil Tiwari and the senior party leaders. He said that he had decided to join the BJP after being impressed by Mr. Anil Tiwari’s leadership and working style.
Recounting his political journey, Mr. Elayaraja said that he began his political career at the age of just 20 by joining the Congress party. During his 17 years in the party, he held various responsibilities. He served as the State General Secretary of the Youth Congress, subsequently took charge as its State President and had been serving as the State Working President of the Youth Congress for the past three years. He said that his father had also served the Congress party for nearly 20 years, including around 15 years as City Congress President, carrying out his responsibilities with utmost sincerity and dedication. His father passed away while serving the public during the COVID period. Following his demise, Mr. Elayaraja tried to carry forward his father’s legacy of social service but did not receive the expected respect within the Congress party. He said that it becomes difficult to continue working in an organisation where respect and leadership are lacking.
Mr. Elayaraja clarified that his decision to join the BJP was not motivated by any desire to secure a position or personal benefits. He said that he was inspired by the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, the working style of State President Mr. Anil Tiwari and the initiatives undertaken by the Lieutenant Governor. He maintained that his commitment to public service had remained unchanged and would continue in the future. He assured that he would now work for the BJP with the same sincerity, dedication and commitment with which he had served the people during his tenure in the Congress party.
