Port Blair, Dec 22: A & N Administration’s recent move to allocate quarry blocks only to Andaman Public Works Department and National Highway Integrated Development Corporation Limited has disappointed the Adyaksh Zilla Parishad, North and Middle Andaman, Mr Dipankar Mistry.
According to Mr Dipankar Mistry, when the administration has allocated quarry blocks for already established organizations like APWD and NHIDCL then why the administration has not considered Zilla Parishad and all Panchayat Samity for the same.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha over phone, Mr Dipankar said that being an outsourced agency, when administration can allocate Quarry Products to NHIDCL, then why the administration didn’t thought of Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samity, which is already established as well.
“I already wrote a letter on 26th November, 2019 to the Lt Governor, Andaman and Nicobar Islands demanding allocation of two quarry blocks one each for Zilla Parishad, N & M Diglipur and Panchayat Samity Diglipur and Panchvati but I have not got a reply yet,” Mr Dipankar said.
Mr Dipankar also said that this matter was also highlighted to the Lt. Governor during his recently meeting in Raj Niwas.
“Without quarry products we will not be able to take up the development works in our area and hence, I request the Lt Governor to review the decision and direct the concerned authorities to allocate quarry blocks to us,” Mr Dipankar added.
