Sri Vijaya Puram, November 3: In a bid to resolve a critical infrastructure gridlock, Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Harinagar, today met Dr. Sachin Shinde, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary, Andaman & Nicobar Administration, at Sri Vijaya Puram to demand immediate administrative intervention for a long-delayed rural connectivity project.
The high-level meeting centred on the construction of the rural road from the residence of Joshna Das to the house of CM Adhikary at Harinagar-5. The project was originally approved in the Gram Sabha to be developed under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) framework, during a meeting chaired by the Assistant Commissioner (HQ), Mayabunder.
The Pradhan highlighted that he has been rigorously pursuing this vital public work at various administrative levels for the past three years, seeking its final execution through the Andaman Public Works Department (APWD). During today’s interaction, Mr. Manojit Halder told the Commissioner-cum-Secretary that the necessary funds are currently available for the project. He strongly requested the top official to issue immediate directions to clear all administrative bottlenecks, float the work tenders, and kickstart on-ground execution without further delay.
Underscoring the hardships faced by the local community, the Pradhan emphasised that the swift completion of this road is essential to fulfilling a long-standing public grievance and ensuring better commuting infrastructure for the rural residents of Harinagar-5. The Commissioner-cum-Secretary listened intently to the presentation of facts and assured the PRI representative that the matter would be looked into proactively for an expedited resolution.
