Diglipur, Aug 26: A newly constructed panchayat Bhawan was inaugurated today by Mr. A. Nedunchezhiyan, Additional Secretary-Director (RD/ Panchayat), A & N Administration, Port Blair at Subhash bazaar Diglipur. On the arrival of the Chief Guest Mr. A.Nedunchezhiyan & Dr. Vivek Kumar Asst. coommisioner planted a sapling of a tree in front of the Bhawan. The Chief Guest Mr. A.Nedunchezhiyan was welcomed by Pradhan Subhash Gram Mr. P.R.Singaram. Traditional songs and dances were presented by the children.
While speaking on this occasion Pradhan Subhash Gram Mr. P.R.Singaram thanked all the officials and people who made this happen and placed few more demands of people to expand the vegetable market, shifting of fish market and installation of statue of Subhash Chandra Bose at Subhash Gram market.
He also pointed out about some roads which are in jurisdiction of Zilla Parishad are not maintained properly and demanded urgent repair of such roads. Among others present during the inauguration were Dr. Vivek Kumar Asst. Commissioner, Mr. Gauranga Dutta Pramukh , Diglipur Mr. Sushil Mondal, Ex Adyaksh and Ex pramukh, Mr.Nagen Halder, Ex Councillar /Pramukh, Ex pradhan Smti. Usha Rani Das, Ex Up Pradhan Mr. Madhai Murshid, Dr. Dinesh Kannan DFO, Mr. Jagdeeshwar Rao, SHO, Pradhans of all 15 panchayats, members and ex members.
During this ceremony Mr. Nirmal Haldar was welcomed by the Pradhan who was donated 1000 Sq metre land for fish market which was his father’s wish. Mr. M.K. Mathai, Executive Engineer said that this Panchayat Bhawan cum Multi proposed hall was constructed by APWD at a cost of about 80 lakhs on 226 sq mt area within 24 months.
Dr. Vivek Kumar Asst. Commisioner speaking on this occasion lauded the partial fulfillment of long pending demand of the local people. Pramukh Mr. Gouranga Dutta too supported the cause of the Vegetable market expansion, shifting of fish market and installation of statue of Subhash Chandra Bose at Subhash Gram market.
Chief Guest, Mr. A.Nedunchezhiyan, Additional Secretary-Director (RD/Panchayat), A & N Administration addressing the gathering lauded the hard work of the ex-pradhan Smti. Usha Rani Das, Up pradhan Mr. Madhai Murshid and Executive Engineers for completion of the building.
Regarding fish-market he said that an estimate of 53 lakh has been prepared for fish market and it was placed for approval at Secretary Level. For daily cleanliness of Vegetable market the amount was upgraded. Vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Subhash Kumar Mallick Up-Pradhan, Subhash Gram Panchayat.
