Port Blair, Aug 28: Acting on a tip off, 05 gamblers were caught gambling by PS Central Crime Station Team late in the night of 24/08/2019 from Prem Nagar. Police received information that few gamblers were gambling at Prem Nagar near kali mandir and based on the information a team comprising of Inspr. Mahesh Yadav, SHO PS Central Crime Station, ASI Vijay Shankar, Head Constable Upender Singh, Constable P. K. Mondal, Hari Krishna Yadav, Rajesh, Chandran was formed under the command of Dy.SP (CID) Sh. Abhishek Gupta and close supervision of Sh. Ravi Kumar Singh, IPS, SP (CID). At around 2300 hrs the team raided the spot where 05 persons were found gambling.
They were found gambling in an open area and Rs 20,560/- (Twenty thousand five hundred and sixty) cash was recovered from their possession. The gamblers were identified as Mafirul Zaban R/o Prem Nagar, Nasiraddin Gazi R/o Goal Ghar, Uttam Bera R/o Prem Nagar, Baburali Mondal R/o Prem Nagar and Paritosh Kirtonia R/o Prem Nagar.
The police have registered a case under section 5/7 of Andaman and Nicobar gambling regulation 1951.
The Andaman & Nicobar Police is taking all possible steps in making these islands free from anti-social activity and keeping strict vigil over gamblers, smuggling and proliferation of narcotics substances in these Islands. The informer will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
