Port Blair, Aug 28: After nearly tough days of indefinite hunger strike, the MGNREGA Employees Association today called off their protest after getting satisfactory assurances from the Administration.
Port Blair, Aug 28: The secretary (RD), Directorate of RD,PRIs and ULBs, A &N Administration, Port Blair today came to the Hunger Strike venue i.e., Tiranga Park, Port Blair and accordingly conveyed the decision of the A &N Administration, Port Blair that the pay packages of MGNREGA staffs of A&N Islands will be enhanced within a period of one week.
Accordingly, urged the employees to call -off the indefinite hunger strike immediately.
In view of the above, the MGNREGA Employees Association, ANI unanimously decided to call-off the hunger strike as the assurances of the above mentioned officials of Andaman and Nicobar Administration were satisfactory.
