Sri Vijaya Puram, October 27: The Chairman, Campaign Committee, Andaman & Nicobar Territorial Congress Committee (ANTCC), Mr. G. Bhasker, has written to the Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, requesting that the Jantha Darshan be conducted and managed directly through the LG Secretariat at Lok Niwas.
In his letter dated 24th October 2026, Mr. Bhasker expressed his sincere gratitude to the Lt. Governor for restarting the Jantha Darshan at Lok Niwas, calling it a welcome step that will go a long way in addressing the grievances of the general public and strengthening direct communication between the people of these islands and the Lt. Governor.
However, he stated that it has come to his attention that appointments for the Jantha Darshan are being channelled through the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, South Andaman, through offline and online modes.
In this regard, he submitted that a considerable number of public grievances pertain to the Deputy Commissioner’s office and the Revenue Department itself. Therefore, routing the appointment process through the same office may not be an appropriate arrangement, particularly when the public wish to bring their grievances concerning these departments directly to the Lt. Governor’s kind attention.
Such a mechanism may discourage people from raising their grievances, and there are chances that their requests for appointments could be denied or kept pending by the DC Office, he said.
Mr. Bhasker therefore requested the Lt. Governor to consider entrusting the entire Jantha Darshan appointment and coordination process to the LG Secretariat, through the Senior Private Secretary and officers at Lok Niwas, as was done during the tenure of the former Lt. Governor, Mr. A. K. Singh.
He expressed confidence that the Lt. Governor’s kind intervention in this matter will further strengthen the spirit of the Jantha Darshan and ensure that the genuine concerns of the people, particularly those relating to the functioning of government departments, receive a fair and direct hearing.
