Port Blair, Aug 28: Under the aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), a comprehensive medical health camp was inaugurated at INHS Dhanvatari on 26th August, 2019. The camp was inaugurated by Mrs Renuka Beji, Vice President of Defence Wives Welfare Association (DWWA), ANC, Port Blair where all the ladies of Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard would be screened.
The present camp will be conducted over a month, targeting 50 ladies every day. Apart from general check-up & basic investigations, they will be screened for Anemia, Hypertension, Dyslipidemia, Cardiac Abnormality, Cervical Cancer & Bone marrow density. The ladies detected with ailments would be treated & also followed up subsequently.
The camp has been organized with the objective that healthy woman forms the base for a strong society & has a very special role in the lives of Armed Forces personnel. It is essential to carry out periodic medical examinations for screening of diseases & identifying them early, before they become symptomatic. A similar camp was organised in 2018 in which 850 ladies were screened.
