Port Blair, Aug 05: Four people who were going for a fun trip to Diglipur had to experience horrible time in Andaman Trunk Road, inside the Kadamtala Jarawa Reserve area.
According to reports these four friends were going towards Diglipur from Port Blair on 31 July in a SUV. Sadly on their way their vehicle got flat tyre twice. After the second incident of tyre puncture they had to leave the SUV on road side and look for some help. They reportedly waited for help from some other vehicles for nearly one hour, later a water tanker which was crossing the ATR stretch, gave them lift upto the Kadamtala Check Post Number 15.
According to the SUV passengers they did not get any help from the police staffs at Check Post, however the staff at Check Post told them that leaving car locked inside the Jarawa Reserved, is a bad idea.
Anyhow all four friends spent night at Rangat and when they returned to the SUV in the morning at around 9 AM, they found that the driver side window is broken by someone with the help of a stone and several items, such as JBL Speaker, Sunglasses, Charging cable etc, which were kept inside the SUV were stolen. Surprisingly food items and bags kept inside the SUV were not touched by anyone.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Mr. Nitin Kumar one of the passengers in the SUV said that from the incident it has become clear that the items were not stolen by Jarawa Tribes but by some other people. He expressed his deep anguish over the fact that even after having police check post very close to the site such incident took place and police people failed to help them, even after this incident.
“I don’t demand a big inquiry over this incident. My concern is tomorrow if someone else faces same situation inside the Jarawa Reserve area the police team of the Jarawa Check post must be able to provide help and protection to the public and the vehicle. If police fails to provide help and protection to public then why do we need police?” questioned Mr. Kumar.
