Port Blair, August 5: Mr Vishal Jolly, the State President, BJP, A & N Islands, has written a letter to the Chief Secretary, A&N Islands on 05.08.2019, regarding permits issued to commercial vehicles. It was mentioned in his letter that, the A&N Transportation Authority stopped issuing permits to commercial vehicles, private carriers and harassing the public during the registration of their personal vehicles. He highlighted that A&N tourism is the only private sector providing job opportunities to unemployed youths of these islands. Even after doing master degrees, the island youths are working as tour managers, trip consultants, drivers etc., and it is the only major source sector for their livelihoods. Further, he also indicated that Govt. of India has taken up various projects to develop Andaman Tourism Industry to generate employment. The transportation plays a major role in Andaman Tourism Industry and without transportation facility; it is not possible to achieve Govt. of India’s Andaman Tourism project targets.
Mr. Jolly requested the LG to take necessary action to issue permits to commercial vehicles to generate employment to Islands’ unemployed youths and to take Andaman Tourism Industry on achievement path as per Govt. of India’s plan.
