Port Blair, July 09: The NHIDCL contractors have started the relaunching work of Thoratang Bailey Bridge, which had collapsed on June 12 2019, when two fully loaded tippers were crossing the bridge.
According to reports despite adverse weather conditions, removal of all parts of collapsed bridge was completed on 28.06.19 by contractors, under the total supervision of NHIDCL.
As per details provided by Mr. Manoj Kumar Verma, Manager, NHIDCL, the components of Bailey Bridge has reached Port Blair by ITT Leopard and now the parts will be sent nearly 200 km away in Thoratang, crossing two creeks.
The NHIDCL is working hard to complete the relaunching work as soon as possible so that normal traffic on ATR can resume.
