Port Blair, May 16: Elaborate arrangements are being made for the counting of votes in the Andaman & Nicobar Lok Sabha 2019 constituencies, scheduled on May 23.
Addressing the press conference this afternoon the Returning Officer, A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency, Mr. Udit Prakash Rai said that counting would take place in two centers in JNRM collage.
“Two counting Halls we have in JNRM with the permission of Commission. Tight security will be provided at the counting centers and along the routes through which Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) would be transported. The strong rooms would be opened at 7.00 AM. The counting will start at 8 AM postal ballots will be counted first, after that at around 8.30 AM EVMs Counting will begin. The counting of voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) will be done last before declaration of result,” Mr. Rai added.
The RO said all electronic voting machines and control units for the first round of counting would be transferred to the counting table by 8:30 A.M.
“One representative each of the candidates will be allowed to monitor the scanning of Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballots System (ETPBS). First we will upload the result in “ECI SUVIDHA” portal so that all over the world everybody can see the results, after uploading portal, results will be declared by loudspeaker,” he said.
