Mayabunder, Oct 08: An STS Bus, D-0115, on its way to Billyground from Mayabunder College, with 39 students, caught fire near the Rest Camp Mayabunder yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, neither any casualty was reported nor was anyone injured in the fire. Bags of some students were destroyed as the bus was completely gutted in the fire. The Driver reported that the fire was caused due to a spark in the engine.
No mobile service was available at the place of the accident so when the Fire service reached the bus almost gutted.
The Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman, Tehsildar visited the spot soon after the incident. Speaking to Andaman Sheekha Deputy Commissioner, N & M Andaman said that “There is no causality in this accident. An inquiry will be conducted in this incident for the cause of the fire. The administration has arranged alternate vehicles for the students,” the DC said.
