Port Blair, Oct 08: The Andaman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the entire business community of Andaman and Nicobar Islands especially the business community of the North & Middle Andaman expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the Union Home Minister Mr. Raj Nath Singh, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Mr. Nitin Jairam Gadkari and the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Mr. Hansraj Gangaram Ahir in materializing the long pending developmental projects of these Islands. The Ministers laid the foundation stone for the following projects: (i) Extension of wharf at Hope Town, (ii) Construction of additional approach jetty, Extension of berthing jetty, and Dredging in front of jetty at Neil Island, (iii) Extension of existing Dock at Port Blair, (v) Laying foundation stone for construction of bridges over Humphrey Strait and Middle Strait at Baratang and (vi) Laying foundation stone for up gradation of NH4 at Diglipur. These infrastructure projects are some of the largest projects initiated by the Government of India in these Islands since independence. Once these projects are completed they will give a boost to the tourism Industry and ensure that more and more tourists visit our Islands every passing year. Further due to this infrastructure development the tourism and allied businesses which are the mainstay of these emerald islands will continue to grow, leading to better job opportunities. The cumulative impact of this will be the all round growth and development of these Islands. In conclusion the Chamber would like to place on record that this infrastructure thrust has happened because of the vision of our Prime Minister of India to ensure the holistic development of our Islands.
