Port Blair, June 07: World environment day was celebrated by Coast Guard fraternity on 05 Jun 12. To mark the occasion a cleanup drive was organized at Tatrakshak Vihar in which all Coast Guard personnel and families enthusiastically participated. A pledge was taken by one and all to keep the Coast Guard & adjoining area as a Plastic Free Zone.
Workshop and lectures were organized in the various offices to sensitise personnel on all environmental issues and to follow safe and healthy environmental preservation practices. To mark the occasion, a plantation drive was also conducted at the Tatrakshak Vihar, wherein saplings were planted by IG VSR Murthy, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N).
