Port Blair, Sept 01: Determined efforts of the Secretary, Education, reap rich dividends as the Central Government has approved increased allocation of funds for Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) and Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (SSA) schemes.
According to reports, the Ministry has increased the outlay for implementation of the schemes three-fold recently, a move which will go a long way in improving the quality of education in these islands.
Speaking to Andaman Sheekha, the Secretary, Education, Smt Tanvi Garg said the Ministry used to allocate funds to the tune of Rs 5.8 crore for the SSA scheme earlier which has now been increased to Rs 18 crore.
“Similarly, the funds for the RMSA scheme have been increased to Rs 8.92 crores against the earlier allocation of Rs 2.5 crores. The Education Department has already started formulating plans for utilizing the funds for improving the quality of education in these islands. Regular training of teachers will be ensured and the trained ones will be posted to various schools in these islands. Optimal utilisation of funds will be ensured by means of constructing Computer Labs etc,” she added.
