Mayabunder, Sept 01: One poacher from Myanmar has suffered bullet injuries recently at Interview Island of North Andaman when a group of nearly 11 poachers tried to attack an anti-poaching team. According to report the injured poachers and one of his friends were then nabbed and brought to RP Hospital of Mayabunder for treatment, while rest of their friends reportedly escaped into deep forest.
As per initial inputs received here, Andaman and Nicobar Police had found a dinghy in Mayabunder region recently following which a team of nearly 20 police jawans was sent for anti-poacher operation at Interview Island from Mayabunder Station.
But at Interview Island the police team was allegedly attacked by the Myanmarese poachers and in self defence when police team fired bullets, one poacher sustained injuries on his leg, while another one gave up the fight. Both the poachers were then shifted to Mayabunder.
It has been learnt that to trace out remaining poachers another team of nearly 50 IRBn Jawans have been sent to Interview Island recently and the search operation is presently going on.
However, even after repeated attempt no one in Police Department was ready to share any information regarding this massive combing operation.
