Port Blair, July 20: In an interesting development, the Joint Interrogation team, which is presently investigating the ‘suspicious Myanmarse boat case’, had to take the help of one poacher from Andaman’s poachers’ camp for the job of Language Interpreter.
The Andaman and Nicobar Police earlier had nearly three Jawans who knew Mayanmarese language but now there is only one left.
As Mayanmarese language has two prominent dialects the JIT had to take help of a poacher (along with the police interpreter), who is presently staying in Poachers’ Camp of Brookshabad to interrogate all 11 Myanmarese poachers, who were arrested from the suspicious Myanmarese boat.
Although this practice seems normal but the question arises here is that how much the Joint Interrogation Team can trust another poacher for such crucial interrogation.
This is not a very serious case but anytime in future if a highly sensitive case is witnessed in Andaman, can the same team believe foreign nationals for interrogation works.
Perhaps the Police Department must now think to keep atleast half a dozen Language Interpreters of different languages.
