Port Blair, July 20: Eviction drive by North and Middle Andaman District Administration today witnessed a high drama at R K Gram area of Diglipur.
According to reports a team of N & M Andaman District Administration today reached the eviction site but to their utter shock they found some PRI members of BJP gheraoed the area against the move.
As per reports some private party is building a structure on the said piece of land but the construction work has blocked a drain, against which the owner of the land was served notices several months ago.
On 8th July vacate order was issued to him along with eviction date but today on the eviction day when the revenue authorities reached with excavators the Pradhan of R K Gram obstructed the eviction drive along with other PRI members.
Meanwhile the police and IRBN reached the spot and after arguments and counter arguments when the Asst Commissioner Diglipur reached the spot he told to the PRIs that it was the Pradhan R K Gram himself who had earlier objected to the construction process at the initial stage.
Assistant Commissioner explained to the PRI members that no guidelines have been formulated till date since Pradhan R K Gram was insisting that there are guidelines to seek permission from the PRIs before eviction. To defuse the situation seven days time was granted to the owner of the land.
