Port Blair, June 13, 2015: The Chief Principal Conservator of Forests Mr GN Sinha has urged research institutions to have close coordination with related agencies like the Forests Department. Delivering the Chief Guest’s address at eh valedictory event of the three-day national workshop on lesser known marine animals of India organised by the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI), Port Blair, he said works in isolation helps very few but synergy between similar organisations yield rich dividends for the nation.
Dr T.Balasubramanian, an expert in the panel of the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change dispelled the notion that there is no encouragement for taxonomic studies of lesser known or new species and asked young scientists to come forward and take taxonomy as their career.
In the workshop, 19 technical presentations were made. It concluded with the field visit of the participant scholars and seniors from all over the country to the Mahatma Gandhi National Marine Park near Wandoor.
