Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 28: Sagar Vastrika, the latest initiative of Jhumurr’s House of Designing, was formally inaugurated on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at the Community Hall, NABARD Colony, Goal Ghar, Sri Vijaya Puram, marking the commencement of its five-day exhibition of an exclusive women’s clothing collection.
The exhibition, scheduled from August 26 to 30, remains open to visitors daily from 12 noon to 8.30 p.m. and marks the launch of the new Sagar Vastrika clothing brand. The initiative, conceived around elegance, style and comfort, brings together traditional aesthetics and contemporary sensibilities in a distinctive collection for women. The earlier announcement of the exhibition had described Sagar Vastrika as a fresh creative extension of Jhumurr’s continuing socio-cultural activities in the Islands.
The inauguration was conducted in the traditional manner with the lighting of the auspicious ceremonial lamp by Chief Guest Mrs. Malati Mandal, President, Atul Smriti Samiti (Bengali Club), Sri Vijaya Puram, accompanied by Guest of Honour Mrs. Sumita Sanyal, Renowned Educator and Artiste of A&N Islands. Mrs. Malati Mandal, in a vibrant turquoise, green and aqua-toned saree, is seen in the photograph lighting the lamp (on right), while Mrs. Sumita Sanyal, attired in a deep cobalt blue saree, is in the left-side. The ceremony was performed in front of a beautifully decorated Lord Ganesh’s Idol placed within the premises, lending an auspicious and traditional beginning of the exhibition.
The inaugural occasion carried a distinctive visual identity of its own, with presence of all in colour palette of ocean blue, sea green, white, teal, turquoise, aqua or combinations of these shades, complementing the theme of the launch. The coordinated attire, coupled with the traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and the beautifully decorated Lord Ganesh Idol, created a warm, festive and distinctly Indian ambience within the exhibition premises.
The atmosphere remained cheerful throughout, with guests and well-wishers congratulating organisers on undertaking what was widely appreciated as a unique and thoughtfully conceived venture. The initiative was particularly welcomed for bringing together fashion, lifestyle and creativity while retaining a strong community-oriented character.
As announced ahead of the launch, Sagar Vastrika presents an exclusive range comprising fine suit fabrics, ready-to-wear garments, traditional and designer sarees, and bed-sheets. The collection has been curated to offer visitors a combination of graceful designs, practicality, comfort and suitability for varied occasions. The exhibition carries the inviting tagline ‘On Display For Only You, With Love!’
The five-day showcase also offers visitors an opportunity to browse and buy the collection under one roof, with an emphasis on exclusive designs, quality and variety. The concept draws creative inspiration from the emerald Islands, giving the Sagar Vastrika a distinctive local identity while extending Jhumurr’s established engagement with socio-cultural activities in the Isles through one of its established organization.
Adding further attraction to the exhibition is the ‘More to Explore’ section, featuring Pearl and artificial jewellery, besides Rakhis and homemade ladoos, thereby broadening the exhibition into a lifestyle and festive-oriented experience for visitors. A particularly noteworthy aspect is Jhumurr’s initiative to provide visibility and support to two other independent women-led ventures of the Islands. The organisers have sought to create space for them to reach a wider audience and showcase their respective products and activities. The gesture was appreciated by those present as an encouraging example of supporting women with the sole objective of social welfare. This also reflects Jhumurr’s continuing efforts to create platforms for artistic expression, community engagement and creative outlook in the Islands. Through its House of Designing, it has been extending the spirit, and this event representing a significant new dimension of that endeavour.
The inauguration concluded on a warm and celebratory note, with guests, well-wishers and visitors expressing their appreciation for the concept, presentation and the spirit behind the venture. The cheerful participation, coordinated inaugural attire, traditional lamp-lighting and the presence of the beautifully decorated Lord Ganesh Idol together gave the opening a graceful and auspicious essence.
