Port Blair, Apr 10: Indonesian Naval Ship KRI Silas Papare has reached Port Blair to participate in the opening ceremony of 19th cycle of the India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol (IND-INDO CORPAT).
“The 19th cycle of the IND – INDO CORPAT commenced on 07 Apr 11 in the Andaman Sea. Indian Naval Ships, INS Mahish and INS Bitra of ANC are participating in the joint patrol in the Andaman Sea along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL). The joint exercise will culminate in the Indian Naval Ships visiting Belwan, Indonesia for the closing ceremony,” Commander Subodh Kumar, Public Relations Office of Andaman and Nicobar Command said today.
Kumar said that effective and regular conduct of CORPATs with the Indonesian Navy has resulted in enhanced mutual confidence levels between the two navies and reduction in poaching by foreign trawlers in our waters.
Meanwhile, Col. Alok Dushanto, COS, Sea Security Task Force of Indonesian Navy alongwith Col. D Hendrata, Task Force Commander and Lt. Col. Y Poek, Commanding Officer of KRI Silas Papare called on Commander – in – Chief Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) today.
“During the stay at Port Blair the officers and crew of the Indonesian Ship interacted professionally as well as socially with senior officers and staff at the Naval Component and the Headquarters Andaman & Nicobar Command. In addition, they also availed the opportunity to do local sight-seeing and engage in friendly sports and games with Indian troops,” Commander Kumar added.
