
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 17: On the appeal of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS), today 17.08.2026 a nation wide Protest was carried in all parts of the Country as “Demands Day”. The BMS State team with its affiliated associations / Federations today carried out the protest in seven places of Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The main function held in Sri Vijayapuram in which a rally started from the parking of Zilla Parishad which led to Tiranga Park and culminated with a Public Meeting.
The members of Andaman Nicobar Rajya Karmachari Mahasangh (ANRKM) has shown their presence in all places of protest i.e. Diglipur, Mayabunder, Rangat, Sri Vijayapuram, Hutbay, Car Nicobar and Campbell bay.
The public meeting addressed by Mr. Sunil Kumar Ghosh, State General Secretary, BMS, Mr. Jaydeep Kumar Dey, President, ANRKM, Mr. M. Veeranna, Ex State President, BMS, Mr. S. Biju Pillai, General Secretary, ANRKM, and finally Smt. Venkat Laxmi, State President, BMS. The speakers focused on national issues relating to all sector of working class alongwith the local issues facing by the members.
The main focus on local issues was regularization of DRMs /Contract / Part time employees. Coverage of EPF and ESIC to all working class without discrimination of Wages limit. Social security coverage to Anganwadi workers and ASHA workers. Timely increase of Auto fare with a permanent mechanism as setting up for fixation of minimum wages. Increase Gratuity amount limitation to Rs. 40.00 lakhs, enhance ESI pension to Rs. 7500.00 etc.
The rally was participated mainly from Anganwadi Association, ASHA Association, NHM Association, Outsourcing employees, Auto union alongwith different associations of ANRKM.
