Diglipur, Oct 20: The Special Committee, under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary (Revenue) Mrs. Rina Ray IAS, with Secretary (Law) Mr. Theva Nidhi Das and Deputy Commissioner (N & M) reached Diglipur today. Member of Parliament, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray, who had promised to present during the visit was not present for some unknown reasons.
After reaching Diglipur the team went around Subhash Gram Diglipur along with Asst Commissioner Diglipur Mr. Arava Gopikrishna, IAS, Tahsildar Diglipur, DEO Diglipur Mr.VT Reddy, looking for possible alternative sites for installation of Subhash Chandra Bose statue.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that four alternate places were identified by the said committee. One is at GSSS Diglipur, another one at GSSS Subhash Gram, third site is at Children’s Park Opposite Gram Panchayat Subhash Gram and fourth one in front of Vivekananda Stadium.
In the evening the committee met with the Netaji Subhash Chadra Bose Statue establishment committee and BJP workers at Administrative building. Both delegations demanded reinstallation of statue at the same place from where it was removed but later they agreed that no one asked the committee about the legality of the above said land to install the statue. The Committee after reviewing the entire matter will submit a report to Lt. Governor soon, it is learnt.
