Mayabunder, June 24: For the Hindi Medium Students of IGNOU, who were about to write ERD1 exam of IGNOU at Mayabunder Centre, the day 23rd June 2014, came with a great shock.
Entire year they studied the subject in Hindi Medium. Their all books are in Hindi and they wrote all assignments in Hindi. Even last years’ question papers were also in Hindi but this year they got question papers in English.
Troubled by the Question paper, when they lodged complaint, the incharge of IGNOU at Mayabuder refused to help them.
When Andaman Sheekha contacted Dr Kasturi Pesala, Director IGNOU she said that the mistake happened all over India
“It’s all India issue. This is the first time when such mistake happened. Usually question papers are open just 10 mints before the exam and hence we too were having no knowledge about it,” Dr. Pesala said.
The Director added that to tackle the situation she arranged 2-3 translators and also gave half-n-hour extra time to all the students and communicated this matter to Mayabunder and other centres.
“I request all the students who faced this problem to individually give a representation in writing so that I can forward it to the IGNOU headquarters, so that they can take some action regarding this,” she added.
However, students of Mayabunder Centre alleged that they were not given any extra time to write the exam and adding to their problems the incharge of the IGNOU Centre, Mayabunder, Mr. Pandey downplayed the issued and said that this happens every year and for students there is no other option that to write answers anyhow.
