Mayabunder, June 24: The IGNOU is presently conducting exam at various IGNOU centres of Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Mayabunder Centre of IGNOU at Mahatma Gandhi Government College is perhaps one of the most difficult centres for students, many of whom leave their exams half and come out just to catch the last bus for Diglipur and Rangat.
The MGGC is situated nearly 9 km away from Mayabunder Bazaar and one has to pay Rs. 350 to Rs. 400 to an auto driver to reach the college from the main Bazaar. As per details there is no STS bus during exam timing of IGNOU and Private Jeeps are only option for students but these Private Jeeps also remain jam-packed with regular commuters.
As per report present exam timing of IGNOU at MGGC is till 5.00 PM and sadly the last Bus for Rangat from Mayabunder also leaves at 5.00 pm. For Diglipur the last bus leaves at 5.30 PM. Hence to catch the last bus on time students have to come out of exam hall before 4.15 pm and stand on road to get on an auto, Jeep or any other private vehicle to reach Mayabunder Bus stop.
What a misery that in this modern age one has to leave exam in half to catch a Bus. Hope the Chief Secretary will intervene into this matter and direct the DC to atleast make some arrangements to provide a connecting bus for IGNOU students from MGGC to Mayabunder Bazaar and delay the last bus to Rangat and Diglipur from Mayabuder so that every student of IGNOU’s Mayabunder centre can write exam without any worry for catching last bus.
