
Sri Vijaya Puram, June 18: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, participated in the International Day of Yoga celebrations held at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep, formerly known as Ross Island, in Sri Vijaya Puram.
Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister said that yoga has emerged as a powerful force in uniting people across regions, cultures and communities. He urged everyone to make yoga an integral part of their daily lives to achieve physical well-being, mental peace and overall holistic development.
The programme was attended by Lieutenant Governor of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, D. K. Joshi, the Chief Secretary, senior officials and other dignitaries.
Prior to the yoga session, the Union Minister and the Lieutenant Governor planted tree saplings under the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” initiative, reinforcing the message of environmental conservation and paying tribute to mothers through tree plantation.
A large number of yoga enthusiasts, government officials and members of the public participated in the event, which highlighted the importance of adopting yoga as a way of life and promoting harmony between people and nature.
