Sri Vijaya Puram, June 19: Mr. V. Senthil Kumar, Member of the National RTI Forum, Rangat, has appealed to the Andaman and Nicobar Administration to reduce the LPG cylinder booking interval from the existing 45 days to 30 days, citing difficulties faced by households across the islands.
In a representation submitted to the Chief Secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Administration, Mr. Senthil Kumar stated that the current LPG booking system is causing considerable inconvenience, particularly for large families and households with high cooking gas consumption.
According to the representation, many families exhaust their LPG cylinders well before the next booking becomes eligible under the present 45-day interval. As a result, residents are often compelled to rely on alternative cooking arrangements such as induction stoves or other methods, which may not be practical or affordable for all households.
Mr. Senthil Kumar emphasized that reducing the booking interval to 30 days would help families meet their daily cooking requirements without disruption and ease the burden on consumers. He urged the Administration to sympathetically consider the request and take necessary action in the interest of the public.
The RTI Forum member expressed hope that the proposed change would provide significant relief to residents and ensure uninterrupted access to cooking fuel for households across the islands.
